The Rashel Foundation

If you have kept up with this blog at all you probably know the story of my studio manager, Rashel Ross. In a nutshell she was diagnosed at 28 with breast cancer. Through surgery and treatment, she is now doing quite well, and she is the name and face of The Rashel Foundation that was formed to help people going through cancer treatment. Rashel was bold enough to allow me to document her journey through treatment. Now we are using her journal writings and those images to reach out to those affected by this disease. On September 17th, The Church at Brook Hills will host an event sharing the images and the writings. It will be set up as an art gallery with a time for Rashel to share her words. The event will be from 6-8 PM, please join us if you are anywhere near Birmingham.

The Luthers
Josh, Brandie, and Logan The families you see above are 2 that The Rashel Foundation has invested in. These are people who have received tangible help through one of the most difficult times I could imagine. Both of the men that you see in these images will not be here for very much longer. They know that, their families know that, I can't imagine the kids understand it. These are 2 of the most difficult yet rewarding shoots I have ever done. If you pray, pray for these families. I can't even begin to suggest what to pray for, allow the Holy Spirit to guide you. I think and pray for them often, I can't imagine the pain.

I saw the pictures on your website of Rashel and her son. It brought me to tears. I had a very dear friend that died a year ago March, leaving behing five children, two of which were age 3 and 4. I wish I'd had the courage to ask her to let me take pictures of them together like that. I am nowhere near you in that respect, but just for her kids to have something. Fortunately she was a scrapbooker and several of us in the community got together to help her get an album together for each of her children. Rashel is a brave woman. My prayers are with her and these other 2 families.
